No this is not a microphone, this is actually a wand from a microdermabrasion machine. You know about my passion for exfoliation, we’ve often discussed chemical exfoliation with glycolic and salicylic but today we are going to talk about physical exfoliation with microdermabrasion. This involves using very fine evasive particles and actually the particles that we are using are aluminum particles and as you can see they are light and fluffy and these aluminum particles start in this machine, in this jar and then suction brings them out through this tube up into the hand piece, the hand piece is run over the skin as the particles are moving and there is suction applied. As the particles come out and sand the skin just like sandpaper, the suction brings the particles back in through the other tube and they wand up in this canister as they are discarded. Microdermabrasion works really much like the way sandpaper works.
Other forms of physical exfoliation include abrasive cleansers where there are actual particles in your cleanser that you gently massage into your face, or even shaving which men have been doing since the age of thirteen, which is one of the reasons that men’s skin often look better than women’s skin because they have been doing physical exfoliation ever since they were teenagers.
So we use microdermabrasion as a form of exfoliation to help the skin become smoother, to help remove brown spots, age spots or brown pigmentation. To also remove abnormal cells and to also open up acne pores and to open up clogs and to remove black heads and white heads. So microdermabrasion is another one of the toys we use to make your skin look more beautiful and healthier.
