It's Not Just About Wrinkles: Color & Texture

Episode #195 / May 17, 2010
OTHER VERSIONS:
When you ask a person if they're happy with their skin, and they say no, and then you ask them why, they'll most likely respond that they don't like their lines and wrinkles. But it's not just about wrinkles! In this episode of DermTV, Dr. Schultz explains what you should look out for when you're examining your own skin and trying to figure out how to improve it.

You talked about texture in your last episode. My problem is large pores and oily skin. Is it true that you can use a topical estrogen to rectify this situation? I'm 41 and showing signs of perimenopause. Thanks, I love watching your episodes.

@Rose: I would suggest consulting a dermatologic surgeon who uses the Fraxel laser for evaluation.

@Vicki: I'm not aware of topical estrogen being helpful for either of those problems however I am happy to tell you that both excess oil and enlarged pores can be treated successfully. See the DermTV episode titled: What Causes and Minimizes Enlarged Pores.
